I like going to Costco to eat the samples. Unfortunately if I fail to read the label just once I end up being poisoned by canola oil. I then suffer for at least the next 24 hours with a sinus attack.
OK, so no canola oil – not that we were using it anyway. But nor do we use olive oil, whether for cooking or in any kind of salad dressing. Instead we use organic extra virgin coconut oil, which has a really great taste, and has been trumpeted a good deal in online and printed media.
Extra virgin olive oil is high in monounsaturated "healthy" fats and, depending on the oil, may be rich in antioxidant polyphenols. Clinical studies show it can help lower cholesterol and control insulin levels in the body, reduce blood pressure, help with weight loss, and may reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer.
Frittata recipe. 12 omega-3 eggs 2/3 cup cream 8 strips bacon cooked and chopped 2/3 cup diced onion 2/3 cup chopped mushrooms (one Costco can of Money’s mushrooms)
You can add essential oils to your coconut oil to get added skin benefits. Just make sure to dilute them. You can use as little as 1 drop per tablespoon of coconut oil, but I like mine stronger by using 1-3 drops per teaspoon of coconut oil.
Homemade spoon butter (also known as butcher block or cutting board cream) is a great thing to keep around. Once applied, it moisturizes and protects wooden surfaces such as butcher blocks, cutting boards, salad bowls, and, of course, spatulas and spoons.
